Construction Management

At TamCo we know the construction process starts long before the equipment and materials arrive at the school. Unfortunately, some schools don’t realize how important choosing the right construction manager is until it’s too late. We know that pre-referendum and pre-construction planning are the most crucial parts of a successful project.

The first decision a district has in starting a Capital Project is whether they will choose a Construction Manager or Clerk of the Works to build their project with their design team. A traditional Clerk of the Works typically becomes involved with the project after the bidding process and is strictly responsible for monitoring the work for compliance to construction documents. A Construction Manager (like TamCo) will build a project that saves costs by helping to produce quality drawings and scope of definition (fewer chances of costly errors) to ensure a better, more productive and cost-efficient Construction Phase.

TamCo will address your needs and priorities and create a budget that can be followed throughout the project. We possess the knowledge of Construction AND Education to form a project that works better for the owner. With this model, the Architect’s major role will become focused on the design of the project. This gives all parties a higher ability to perform well for the district and overall project.

Engineering Services

Following a successful referendum vote TamCo hits the ground running. We will facilitate the initial kick-off meeting with the District and Architect/Engineer. This will set the direction of the project. TamCo will collectively pull together budgets, phasing plans, project timelines, and begin the intricate process of managing the entire project. We will regularly meet with the district’s architect and engineers to ensure drawing scope and budget alignment is maintained. TamCo will review the estimates along the way as well as preform constructability reviews at various stages of the project design. This will minimize plan conflicts.

 Often architectural designs are not directly congruent with the engineer design. TamCo will maintain a working compliance between the drawings and engineer ensuring an effective field review is conducted along with consistent estimating.

 What is unique about TamCo is its ability to utilize a variety of engineers and experienced construction staff to work side-by-side with your design team. TamCo does not rely on the “hope” and wait for the plan’s philosophy, rather is capable of providing collaborative design methodology that strengthens the overall project. You benefit from your architect and construction manager working hand in hand in the process.
